CES was just last month and it gave us yet more incremental updates. As is too often the case with laptops. Over the last few years, one of the incremental updates that has been a trend is decremental in nature. I am talking about the lessening of ports and bezels around the screen. While I like thin bezels because that means I can have a larger screen in a smaller form factor, I am not a fan of the disappearing ports. We are not wireless yet and the inconvenience is greater than the promise of the future. We carry heavy computing power in smaller bags, and interaction with these computers is no longer limited to a mouse and keyboard. There is touch interaction as well as gesture interaction on top of traditional methods. However, decreasing ports create limitations when it comes to plugging things into a laptop. Things that we need every day like an external hard drive, or perhaps an Ethernet cable, all need a port. The ease of ports is what made these devices possible, and now the death of ports will eventually fade them out. The death of ports happens every time there is a new connector in the market. Each new generation of computers come with newer ports. While some of the things we attach to our computer evolve too, legacy gadgets like a VCR most certainly do not have a USB C port. This change often renders our old cables and devices useless. Let's look at an example in detail:Device: VCR player So, how do you connect a VCR to your laptop and why would you want to? First, if we are to address why you would want to connect a VCR to a laptop, it can be to transfer old videos! Video cameras have been around for a long time and they no longer use VHS tapes for storage. So you need a way to save all the videos that are on your old tapes. Circling back to the original question, the answer is USB adapter. They are just dongles before we started calling them dongles. The idea is that no matter what port a laptop doesn't have, it is sure to have a USB port. Therefore, you can connect all kinds of computer cables to it. Essential things to look out for in an adapter are:
These adapters are also available in most stores that have computer accessories and peripherals. Depending on your need, some stores, both online and offline, offer them in bulk quantity as well. This is highly useful when you need them in an office. Source: https://www.sooperarticles.com/shopping-articles/electronics-articles/lack-usb-ports-increase-adapters-1763943.html

A TV in 2020 has one port that it absolutely cannot get enough of the HDMI port. Let's get to know it today.
HDMI is the acronym of High Definition Multimedia Interface and it came to be in 2003! The best thing about it then was that it did away with the need for separate cables for audio and video. Since then, there is more to it and the best hdmi cables are ones that give you crisp video, with immersive audio, faster than you can blink. HDMI has become the standard, replacing all kinds of previously popular audio-video standards. Why has this happened? What is so great about the HDMI cable? Let's look at some of the things that make it a popular choice:Superior quality data transfer: The best HDMI cables can transfer data in high quality without any compromise. With evolving versions of the cable, the reliability, and speed of this transfer also improve. The high resolution that it supports, makes the picture on the TV look good. Your TV is only as good as your HDMI cable allows it to be, after all. End to end security: The gadgets that are actively using the HDMI cable or even HDMI adapters can access the data that it is transferring. One cannot access it remotely. Input = Output: With the HDMI cable, the quality of data you input is the output you get to see. There is no compromise and no loss in the cable. Since the standard is digital, the loss of data in analog to digital conversion does not come into play here. This makes them an ideal choice for transmitting anything in high definition. Cable management: Who loves to detangle a mess of wires from behind a TV? The answer is no one. One cable for audio and video dramatically cuts down on the wires that you have to deal with on a regular basis. Since HDMI cables are available in varying lengths, you can get the length you need for your setup and optimize your cable management even better. One cable that doesn't even dangle over the table? Yes, please! Conversion to different things: Since not everything uses an HDMI port, you can use several hdmi adapters for connecting to a DVI port, a DisplayPort or even a USB port. The adapters come in handy for sticky situations like that. The next question that we must ask is where to use the HDMI cable? Workstation: If you are setting up a workstation, you should connect your monitor(s) to your CPU with HDMI cables. This will ensure high definition, no lag output, which is perfect for editing video and audio if that is your requirement. It is also good for any intensive development-related work. Entertainment setup: For an entertainment setup, you need elements that give you an immersive experience. You need a TV that can support high resolutions like 4K HDR10+. Additionally, you need a soundbar because TV speakers are generally terrible. For this, HDMI ARC comes in handy and can give you your money's worth. Gaming setup: The one place where data lag can affect the result negatively is gaming. Imagine you are playing an intense multiplayer game and your video lags! You'd be dead before you even see where you are going! With the latest HDMI cables, you will always be one step ahead, therefore minimizing death risks. You cannot simply hope to get the resolution that your TV promises unless you use the HDMI cable that is compatible with it. With different versions available, make sure to check the version that will likely work best for you and then buy it. There are several reasons for this cable's popularity and the universal appeal that it has. This serves as a compact list of a few of those. The HDMI standard is here to stay this decade, that's for sure. So if you are investing in a setup, make sure to get the latest versions even though they might be slightly pricey right now. Electronic copies of books will never be the same as the smell of a good book, and the feel of the paper. A poetry class will never be complete unless you scribble a million things in the margin. But getting prints without an in-house printer can get expensive in the long run. If you are in undergrad or graduate school, it would be easier to have a printer of your own. And even if you are done with school, a printer is a must in a home office. It also happens to be one of those frustrating gadgets to set up. So we have come up with a quick guide to help you select and set up a printer. Before selecting a printer, here are the questions you need to ask yourself:
The different types of printers that you can choose from are inkjet print, dot printer, laser printer, etc. Now let's move on to how to set up this printer:First, you will need to know the version your computer operating system is and whether it is a 32-bit system or a 64-bit system. Next, you need to download the printer driver that is compatible with your operating system. You can do this from the official website of the printer company, or if your printer came with a drivers CD. If you are installing this on your laptop, make sure to plug it in while it downloads and installs it. Next, set up the printer on a flat surface. Use the printer cable that is in the box to connect it to your computer. This is essentially one of the many types of USB cables. So, one side of the printer cable will have a regular USB A connector, and the other side will have a rather square-ish rounded edges connector. Plug this cable into the computer and the printer. Then plug in the power cable of the printer in a socket. Pull open the paper tray of the printer and put a stack of the paper of your choice. Now, you have to run a test print. Since you have already downloaded and installed the drivers, this should run smoothly. If it does, you are ready and you can go ahead and start printing what you want. If this does not work, or if the printer you are trying to set up is an old one, you will have to do some troubleshooting. Check if the USB cables are in okay condition. If the casing shows signs of damage at the ends, or there are some bumps or lumps on the cable, then your cable may not work and you need to get a new one. If that is not the case, you should check the printer itself to see if the cartridge has not dried up. If so, you will have to replace that. You can easily order a new one online. Another thing that could be an issue is if the paper is jammed in the rollers. Since the paper cannot move, no print can come out, and there is a chance of the ink spilling as well. While all this makes setting up a printer a herculean task, once it is set up, you can get easy access to printing anything you want, at any time you want. The joy of a successful print is in the fresh warm paper! For years, we were happily writing blogs, articles, etc., putting our opinions and ourselves in front of our readers. In fact, according to Internet live status , there are thousands of blog posts being published every second. With the evolution of Apple’s iPhone, capturing and storing images, videos became easy. Whereas, Google and Facebook provided platforms for people to show the content they were creating. With each passing day, year, and social media platforms, new forms of content kept emerging. These platforms not only helped people sell their products but they also helped them create an industry of influencers, tech reviewers, fashion or food bloggers. Like our favorite tech reviewer Marques Brownlee. He has around 10 million people following him on Youtube. Now these content creators have moved from creating just text, images, and videos to podcasts. They have started using this as a medium to reach their users and share their opinions on various subject matters. There are thousands of podcasts uploaded on various topics. Millions of people listen to them to gain knowledge on a regular basis. You might be listening to them as well. While listening to those, has a thought of starting your own podcast channel ever crossed your mind? I know, it’s crossed mine. It’s one of the best ways to build a brand around your name. So, if you are thinking of adding another dimension to your content, then this blog is just right for you. This article dives deep into the gadgets required to set up your own podcast recording studio. Microphone:It is the main and basic requirement for any podcast recording studio. With a good quality mic, you will be able to generate good quality audio for your podcast channel. You should be aiming for clear and crisp audio. As a newbie, I can understand you must be confused and wondering what type of microphone you should buy. First of all, don’t rush into it and before purchasing thoroughly research and make sure to check out reviews. Also, consider investing in a mic stand which will make using mic easier for you. To start your search, check out two mostly used microphones for podcasts i.e. AT2005usb and Electro-Voice RE 20. Headphones:Just like microphones, they are basic and must-haves. It is important because you will have to listen to your recordings before publishing. You will also need them while recording your podcasts. Prefer choosing Behringer HPX2000 or Sony 7506 because they come at a reasonable price and have the noise cancelling feature. Mixing:Mixers are a much-needed asset in starting your own podcast studio. You need to take care of various things while setting up a mixer. There are basic and advanced levels of mixers available in the market. Understand your need and use before purchasing them. The basic level mixer consists of features like control over volume, panning, etc. whereas the advance level covers more than that, like mixing various audios. One thing you need to check out while purchasing a mixer is the mix-minus feature. This feature lets you split your audio into two different channels. Additionally, it even lets you have full control over your voice and lets you easily mix and match. Editing Software:After recording, you will need software to edit out some extra noises or add some tunes or background music. So, make sure to purchase an easy-to-use software which can help you set your content apart. As you are a beginner in this industry, I would recommend you to start with an open source, free software. It is better to use them rather than investing in costly software at such an early stage. Cables:Now comes the most important and confusing part of setting up a podcast studio. Cables! But, only at the initial level. We promise you will start loving them once you understand how important they are for everything. Let’s understand the cables required for a podcast studio in brief.
Wrapping it up:Setting up a podcast studio might be a difficult task, but once you set it up, creating content will be a breeze. It will give you the freedom to create more and connect better with your audience. Source: https://www.sfcable.com/blog/step-guide-how-setup-podcast-studio/ |
